Here are the dresses each of us drew for the January Birthday Challenge.
Mel's dress:
I wanted a dress that would mix carnations and garnets. I tried three different designs and am not entirely satisfied with the end result. I envision this dress to be made of red silk, with skirt ruffles and sleeves of crinkle rayon, mimicking the petals of a carnation. A beaded belt accents the waistline. The necklace and bracelet are garnets set in gold and linked with gold chains.

Billie Jo's dress:
Inspired by an 1800's bustle era evening dress I found on Pinterest (love that place!). It is made of silk and lace. The necklace is garnet and gold with a matching wrist bracelet worn over evening gloves. Carrie is holding a single carnation in her hand.
Josie Anne's dress:
This dress was inspired by the dress that Elizabeth Bennet wears to the Netherfield Ball in the 1995 BBC Pride and Prejudice. It is a Regency era ballgown with a small cross necklace that has a garnet in the center. Carrie is carrying a carnation flower.
Since we received no other submissions this time, this concludes the challenge! You can download the PDF of these three dresses at the bottom of Carrie's page.
Thanks for reading and we'd love to have you participate next time!
