Noblewomen would wear this gown to receive important guests to their castle. It consists of a high-necked under-gown with long sleeves that are rounded at the ends, and trim of a contrasting color on the hem; a scoop-necked, short-sleeved over-gown of the contrasting color, with bands the color of the under-gown at the hem and the sleeves- which are also decorated with stitching; and a stiff corset with decorative stitching.
Hello blog readers,
As you may have noticed, Wednesday and Thursday's posts did NOT go up on time. That's because my entire family came down with a nasty cold bug. I was in bed for two days and Billie is still in bed. Josie Anne has been busy helping with cooking and canning- too busy to post in place of either of us. I will be posting Jolene's dress in a little while, but Emma's next dress will not go up until Billie is feeling well enough to post it. I hope all of you are doing well! Thanks for reading this blog! Mel "She put on a plain little cotton gown with blue flowers trailing over it and cut pockets and a belt."
This description is from Silver Wings. A great book if you ask me! Just a simple frock of flowered cotton, with a belt and pockets as well as a collar. |
